Well here we were in Arequipa wondering what to do and for some reason we thought mountain biking down a volcano would be fun ! This pic is taken from about 4500m up Chachani volcano. The views were amazing, the bottom of the valley just disappeared into the haze it was so far down. The volcano itself is 6075m high but the last mile is all leg work, if you want to tackle it. We got a van upto this point which took a couple of hours maybe more. It was a bit of a shock how far it was from Arequipa to here as it looked so close when your down the valley. The intention was to ride all the way down with NO up hill bits. Up hill bits how could there be on a volcano ! |
